Mxolisi Miya is the Executive Manager for Corporate Services at Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN), an investment promotion agency that identifies and packages investment opportunities in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). Its mandate is to promote the province of KZN as an investment destination with an objective of increasing foreign and domestic Investment and Trade.
Mxolisi joined TIKZN in March 2006 as General Manager for Human Resources. In October 2013 he was given the responsibility of Executive Manager for Corporate Services, which brings together HR and Marketing and Communication, where he is responsible for the Marketing and Human Resources functions.
Mxolisi holds two Diplomas in Human Resources Management and Business Management, and has also just completed a Branding and Marketing Management programme. He has over 20 years experience in the Human Resource field, and served for eight years as a Trade Unionist prior to joining the corporate world. During this time his highlight was his involvement in the formation of Congress of the South African Trade Unions(Cosatu), the biggest trade union federation in SA. Mxolisi’s business acumen can be attributed to his experience in corporate business where he has held various senior positions as a Human Resources Practitioner.
Mxolisi serves on various Boards, including UKZN Extended Learning a subsidiary of the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He was the Vice-Chairman of the Employer Association (SACTPEA) and was actively involved in the formation of the National Textile Bargaining Council. He has also served in various Business Chambers and is the current Chairperson of the Institute of People Management (IPM).
One of Mxolisi’s major achievements was the international award for Human Resource Leadership, awarded in India for his good work and contribution to the field of Human Resources in 2008. Mxolisi’s strengths lie in leadership, business intelligence, strategic thinking, mentoring and coaching, negotiation and dispute resolution, to name a few.
